Handicap International is taking over the European quarter in order to mobilise the public against the bombing of civilians. Tuesday, 24 April 2018, 11am, no. 5 Place du Luxembourg, 1050 Brussels

On 24-25 April, the European Union will host an international conference on ‘Supporting the future of Syria and the region’. The conference will discuss the significant humanitarian needs created by the conflict, in Syria and the region, as well as the aid provided in response to the conflict.

Alongside the conference, on 24 April, Handicap International will take over the Place du Luxembourg for an unprecedented (audio and visual) campaign to raise public awareness about the issue of the bombing of civilian areas (illustrating, through several activities, the damage caused to civilians during the seven years of conflict).

  1. UNDER THE BOMBS, an audio experience that will plunge passers-by into the sounds of the bombing of a civilian area (at no. 5 Place du Luxembourg)
  2. STOP BOMBING, a giant poster to challenge public opinion (in front of Luxembourg station)
  3. AXELLE RED, Belgian singer and Handicap International Ambassador, will speak of her experience visiting Syrian refugee camps in Jordan
  4. BOMBED, a photo exhibition showing the victims and the work of HI, on Place Solidarnosc.

The aim: to challenge the public about the urgent need to mobilise against the bombing of civilians, by signing an international petition aiming to gather one million signatures – stop-bombing-civilians.org. Come and meet Axelle Red and experience an audio demonstration of what the bombing of a civilian area sounds like.
